When installing an Acoustic Box alongside external heat pumps or wall mounted equipment, it’s common to run pipework through the panels of the enclosure as required.
Our recommended steps to get the same tidy, long lasting outcome on every install:
1. Use a Hole Saw for Clean, Uniform Cuts
A hole saw is the simplest and cleanest tool for the job. It creates an even edge, prevents tearing, and allows you to size the opening precisely for the pipework being installed.
The key is to cut a hole that provides enough clearance for installation and servicing. Snug but not restrictive.
2. Seal the Cut Surface with the Touch-Up Paint Provided
Every Acoustic Box comes with a touch-up paint kit, and this is exactly what it’s meant for. Once your cut has been made, apply paint to the cut surface.
This step:
- Seals the metal to reduce risk of corrosion
- Helps maintain the powder-coated finish
- Extends the longevity of the panel in outdoor conditions
It only takes a minute but makes a major difference to durability.
3. Add a Rubber Edge Trim for a Premium Finish
Adding a simple rubber edging strip around the hole really tops it off and completes the job nicely. Options pictured below in White & Black that work well with all our most popular enclosure colours.
This optional step:
- Covers the cut edge for a smoother visual result
- Creates a softer interface around pipes
